This NZ First Aid Certificate (Level 1) training is available FREE for youth aged between 14 – 24 who are residents of Waiheke Island.

Course Details

Manage first aid in emergency situations, includes NZQA unit standards 6401 and 6402.

Learn first aid skills and further develop existing skills in order to take a first responder role and provide basic first aid treatment until more advanced help arrives at the scene. The course also includes the phase of emergency care that either; prevents respiratory or circulatory airway obstruction; or supports the breathing and circulation of a victim with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This is an interactive first aid course with a substantial part of the training based on practical scenarios, with real life situations and the correct actions.

Topics include: Scene management, Adult, child and infant CPR, Airway obstruction, Bleeding control, Recovery position, Assessment of first aid conditions, Choking, Shock management, Fractures, sprains, burns, poisoning.

The course is sponsored by the Waiheke Youth Project through the Waiheke Local Board and is valued at  $195 per person.

Charli Crocker is passionate about providing quality education and has been training Waiheke’s First Responders for over 10 years.

Charli has extensive experience facilitating Health and Safety, First Aid and professional development to many sectors including  industry organisations, health, schools and community groups

Charli’s teaching style caters to all learning styles and includes plenty of hands-on learning. She is an energetic, interactive teacher who makes learning fun!

She has a family connection to Waiheke and enjoys spending time on the island when she visits as a trainer.
