Fees may be deposited into to our Kiwibank account Waiheke Adult Literacy Inc 38-9008-0845316-09 or paid by cash or cheque at The Learning Centre.

Please note payment is required prior to the course start date to complete your enrolment and confirm your place on the course.

Terms & Conditions

ENROLMENT

Booking and Payment: Pre-enrolment is essential. Payment of fees is required at the time of enrolment to confirm your place on the course. Please contact us in advance if you need to make other arrangements for payment. All fees are advertised with the course description and include GST. In some cases there may be additional costs for materials and a materials list will be emailed prior to the course start date.

Enrolment form: All students are required to complete the enrolment form as part of the checkout process. The information supplied enables WAL to gain funding to subsidise course fees. Personal details will remain confidential.

Acceptance: Confirmation of enrolment will be sent by email unless otherwise requested. If you do not receive a reminder from us, please turn up at the time and date advertised.

Receipts: If you require a GST receipt, please notify the WAL office.

Concessions: A 10% Community Service Card discount is available upon request.

Late enrolments: Late enrolments will be accepted only if places are available.

Cancelled classes: Courses can only go ahead if there are sufficient enrolments, otherwise the course will be postponed or cancelled. Participants will be contacted prior to the course start date. In case of cancellation, a full refund will be given as soon as possible.

Refunds: If a course fails to start due lack of enrolments, a full refund will be given or (if appropriate) a transfer offered. No refunds will be given for withdrawals within 48 hours of when a course is due to start. 

No discounts or refunds will be given if a student is unable to attend all classes in a term.

Course venue: All courses are held at the Waiheke Adult Learning Centre unless otherwise stated.

Children and teenagers: Our courses are designed for adults over the age of 16, however in some circumstances children may be accepted with an accompanying adult at the discretion of the tutor. Please contact the WAL office prior to enrolling.

Changes to Programme: In unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to change the advertised programme and/or tutor. Changes will be notified on our website and every effort will be made to inform those enrolled.

PRIVACY

Your information will be kept on file by Waiheke Adult Learning in accordance with the Privacy Act (2020). It will not be used for any unauthorised purpose and all information is filed securely.


COMPUTER USE

Use of Waiheke Adult Learning computers, networks, and Internet access is a privilege and may be revoked for inappropriate conduct including, but not limited to:

  • Sending chain letters;
  • Engaging in private or personal business activities;
  • Misrepresenting oneself or Waiheke Adult Learning;
  • Engaging in unlawful or malicious activities;
  • Using abusive, profane, threatening, racist, sexist, or otherwise objectionable language in either public or private messages;
  • Sending, receiving, or accessing pornographic materials;
  • Becoming involved in partisan politics;
  • Causing congestion, disruption, disablement, alteration, or impairment of Waiheke Adult Learning networks or systems;
  • Infringing in any way on the copyrights or trademark rights of others;
  • Using recreational games; and/or
  • Defeating or attempting to defeat security restrictions on Waiheke Adult Learning systems and applications.

CYBER SAFETY USE AGREEMENT

In enrolling with Waiheke Adult Learning I agree that:

I understand that Computer/Internet facilities are intended for educational purposes only. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility not to initiate access, or have any involvement with material that is inappropriate, illegal or dangerous or to distribute such material by copying storing or printing.

I agree that I will use communication technology resources appropriately. This respects copyright laws e.g. software that cannot be legally copied. There will be no form of electronic crime, including the uploading or creation of computer viruses or electronic vandalism.

I understand there must be no involvement with offensive graphics, sounds or typed messages. I am aware that if I accidentally encounter offensive, dangerous or illegal material I should remove it from the screen and notify the tutor immediately.

I accept responsibility for privacy and security and will not infringe on the rights of someone else. I know the importance of reporting any security problems to the tutor.

I accept that breaching this agreement may result in my being barred from computer use. If the offence is suspected of being illegal, I am aware that law enforcement agencies will be notified.
