The Intermediate course aims to develop oral confidence in te reo māori and thus focuses more heavily on kōrerorero. We will extend on conversational te reo māori, mihimihi, and reading Māori language literature, and
writing. In class we will work from ‘Māori Made Easy 1 and 2’
The intermediate course will cover the following topics:
– Pronunciation
– New Vocabulary
– Covering a range of sentence structures and negating
– Māori Made Easy 2 (Blue book) and 1(green book)
– Listening and understanding pre recorded kōrero
– Māori language literature
– Whakapākehātia me whakamāoritia
– Mihimihi, Karakia, waiata
Course Details
An introduction to Te Reo Māori. This course will begin with learning to express and to talk about yourself and your whānau in Te Reo Māori.
This course will include pronunciation, greetings, waiata and karakia, an introduction to pepeha, tikanga and mihi. There will also be an introduction to tenses, pronouns and basic sentence structures.

This course is subsidised by TEC funding for NZ citizens and permanent residents which requires commitment to attend the full course.
