This course is for those who have already done a beginners class or already have a foundation in  Te Reo Māori.

Beginner 2 extends on the foundations set in Beginner 1. Students who come along to this class should have some
basic Māori language experience. In Beginner 2, we will work on extending spoken and written Te Reo Māori. We
will start to listen too and understand pre recorded kōrero and engage in kōrero on everyday topics. If you are part
way through ‘Made Made Easy 1 (Green book)’, this class may be right for you.
The Beginner 2 course will cover the following topics:
– Pronunciation
– Mihimihi, karakia, waiata
– Vocabulary
– Working on new sentence structures and extending on Beginner 1, including:
– Passive and Stative sentences
– Agent Emphatic
– Whakakāhore
– Locative
– A me te O

 

Course Details

An introduction to Te Reo Māori. This course will begin with learning to express and to talk about yourself and your whānau in Te Reo Māori.

This course will include pronunciation, greetings, waiata and karakia, an introduction to pepeha, tikanga and mihi. There will also be an introduction to tenses, pronouns and basic sentence structures.

This course is subsidised by TEC funding for NZ citizens and permanent residents which requires commitment to attend the full course.
