This course is suitable for people and community organisations interested in supporting emergency response on Waiheke and wanting to gain an Amateur Radio Operators Licence.
Course Details
The aim of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and regulatory understanding necessary to obtain the New Zealand Radio Operators Certificate of Competence required for an amateur radio license.
Through theoretical instruction, participants will develop proficiency in radio communication techniques, operating procedures, and technical principles
essential for amateur radio operation. By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to pass the licensing examination and engage confidently in amateur radio activities, contributing positively to the amateur radio community in New Zealand.
This course is two full days of face to face instruction with optional pre-course online classes on basic electrical theory to provide background knowledge for new learners.
A simple UHF or VHF radio is provided with the option of purchasing a dualband VHF/UHF radio.
