A hand made item can make the perfect gift so take the time in the lead up to the festive season to learn how to sew. You may wish to make a simple garment, item or something festive such as a Christmas stocking or your own fabric advent calendar. This course is designed for those new to sewing and will teach the fundamental skills such as laying your pattern on the material, correctly cutting out fabric and sewing garments. At the conclusion of the course you will have some basic skills, more confidence and a completed garment or item. Places on this course are limited.
What you will learn:
- Choosing the right size pattern
- Reading and following the pattern
- Laying and cutting your fabric
- Threading and using a sewing machine
- Sewing your item or garment together
Some materials will be available for the first class and you can discuss your project idea with your tutor. You will need to bring a simple pattern, pins, material, zip, thread, interfacing, etc. It is not necessary to bring your fabric on the first night and it may be beneficial to leave the buying of your fabric until after your first class so your tutor can advise you.
